EDUCATION / admissions
- The Institute of Biomedical Engineering at Bogazici University offers graduate programs to students with a B. S. degree in engineering, basic sciences, life sciences or medical sciences.
- The language of instruction is English and students must pass either the Bogazici University English Proficiency Test or other international proficiency tests such as TOEFL iBT® (The TOEFL® test is the most widely respected English-language test in the world.) and TWE (Test of Written English), or IELTS (International English Language Testing System). Students are admitted to the preparatory class if they only qualify for the MSc program and pass level 1 of the Bogazici University English Proficiency Test.
- PhD students are not admitted to the English preparatory class. Admission to the graduate program is on the basis of an interview offered twice a year to evaluate the depth of knowledge of the applicants in their undergraduate areas; and to assess the possibility of carrying out research work in one of the interdisciplinary areas in the institute.
- A minimum grade point average of 2.50 / 4.00 or equivalent is a prerequisite for application to the M.Sc. program. To apply to the M.Sc. or a PhD program Turkish applicants must have a minimum standard ALES score of 75 and foreign applicants a GRE score of 156.
